This 20 credit masters-level module will enhance your existing knowledge and skills of working with complex intra- and inter-personal processes in the promotion of the wellbeing and protection of children and young people. You will learn about systemic ways of working with children and families, and improve your knowledge of current research and its use in practice. You will also cover situations in which there is a risk of harm or impairment of development of children and young people.
Topics covered in the module will include analytical writing for child and family social work, working with resistance, assessing risk in the context of parental substance misuse and mental health difficulties, approaches to Systemic Family Work, exploring family relationships, resilience and child development and trauma and child protection.
