Invenite

Welcome to issue 2 of Invenite, our magazine for alumni, supporters and friends of the University of Plymouth

We are fortunate to live, work and study in a geographically diverse and beautiful area of the country.

A world-class city waterfront here in Plymouth, and the wider dramatic coastline of Devon and Cornwall; the rugged beauty of Dartmoor National Park and the verdant hills of the South Hams – is it any wonder that the University of Plymouth is increasingly a destination of choice thanks to the unrivalled quality of life and the academic opportunities that are afforded by its setting?

Our location, our place, has inspired many of our graduates and academics to achieve global success, and this edition of Invenite showcases a number of examples. From tackling plastic pollution in the world’s oceans to developing sustainable businesses with ultra-ethical supply chains, you’ll find University of Plymouth people advancing knowledge and transforming lives.

We also look at how University research is tackling soil erosion in East Africa, how it is at the forefront of a new tradition of nature writing, and how we’re working with partners to redefine performing arts education.

These are just some of the stories contained within these pages as we invite you to join with us in continuing to live and breathe our motto – explore, dream and discover – Indagate Fingite Invenite.

We hope you enjoy this issue and, as always, we welcome your contributions and feedback.
