Entry requirements
Applicants are required to attend an informal interview with the Programme Leader. Further details will be communicated once an application has been received.
Evidence of your writing ability is required. A sample of no more than ten pages of original writing must be submitted with all applications.
For entry to postgraduate level, you should normally possess:
first or upper second (2:1) degree with honours or professional qualification, recognised as being equivalent to degree standard;
or
an ordinary degree, foundation degree, higher national diploma, or university diploma, accompanied by substantial experience in an appropriate field.

English language requirement 
If English is not your first language then evidence of English proficiency is required. The level of proficiency that is required can vary with the type of programme you’re applying for. For further advice on the relevance of overseas qualification and proficiency in English, please contact our International Office. 
The minimum IELTS score for acceptable English proficiency for entry is normally 7.
A level
Typical offer will be 104 points from a minimum of 2 A levels, including A level English Language, Literature or Creative Writing, or a related subject (e.g., History, Philosophy, Film Studies, Sociology) at Grade B, excluding General Studies.
International Baccalaureate
26–28 points overall. Typical offer will be 26 points overall including three subjects at Higher Level and English at grade 5 at Higher Level. If overseas and not studying English within IB, you must have IELTS 6.5 overall with 5.5 in all elements.

If you hold a BTEC qualification, it is vital that you provide our Admissions team with details of the exact modules you have studied as part of the BTEC. Without this information, we may be unable to process your application quickly and you could experience significant delays in the progress of your application to study with us. Please explicitly state the full list of modules within your qualification at the time of application.
All access courses
Pass a named Access to Higher Education Diploma (preferably English, humanities or combined), with at least 33 credits at merit and/or distinction. 
T level
As a University we will continue to review T Level qualifications as more information becomes available in the next couple of months.
GCSE
Mathematics and English language grade C/4. If you meet this criteria, please seek further advice with the Admissions team at admissions@plymouth.ac.uk.
Equivalent qualifications may be considered.
