You will normally require:
Partner Institutions: Applicants from our partner institutions, and those students who are already studying with us in the School of Art, Design and Architecture, will not need to provide a portfolio. Applicants from our partner institutions considering us for MA Design study will need to provide a digital portfolio of their last three projects.
- A first or upper second (2:1) degree with honours or an equivalent professional qualification.
- An ordinary or foundation degree, a higher national or university diploma, accompanied by substantial experience in an appropriate field.
- Provide a portfolio of work for discussion at interview.
- If you have overseas qualifications, you can check their compatibility with the UK equivalent through NARIC, who provide an advisory service.
English language requirements
If your first language is not English then evidence of English proficiency is required. The minimum IELTS score for acceptable English proficiency for entry is normally 6.5. A 2:1 degree from a UK University or equivalent and evidence of a sustained engagement with associated fields of practice.
Applicants will be required to submit an outline of their experience in a 500-word statement.
Work experience in the creative or manufacturing sectors (or other professionally relevant activity) is highly desirable, though not required. Applicants with extensive industry experience can claim credits following the University of Plymouth Accreditation of Prior Learning Policy.
