Clinical skills session, MSc Advanced Professional Practice in Physiotherapy
Our programme delivery has been designed to be compatible with your busy life as a postgraduate student trying to maintain a work-life-study balance. All of our teaching is underpinned by current research and you will have the opportunity to work with experienced staff on your own research projects.
Our teaching team will always strive to help you increase your skills in reflection, analysis and critical debate and develop your knowledge base to the cutting edge of your subject and are more than happy to answer any queries you have while studying one of our professional development programmes or modules.

Teaching and learning

The majority of the modules that make up our Advanced Professional Practice programmes are taught by blended learning techniques, but some are delivered via distance learning.
Whether module content delivery is face-to-face or online, we place a strong emphasis on self-directed learning and we expect you to read around the subject you are studying and actively engage on learning tasks set.

Blended learning

Most modules are delivered via blended learning in one of two ways:
1. Two study blocks delivered face-to-face with some elements of distance learning in between, normally delivered via the University intranet system (Moodle). This break between study blocks allows you time for reflection.
2. Four-day study blocks on campus made up of a mixture of lectures and group work, with tutorials offered to support the development of your assessment. You will also have access to online tools to support your learning (Moodle).

Distance learning

Module content is delivered by webinars, interactive teaching resources, Skype tutorials and other digital learning tools.
You will not normally attend any sessions on campus, but some distance learning modules hold a face-to-face induction and tutorials on campus. Where this is the case it will be made clear on the module webpage.

Assessment

Assessment for most modules is normally written coursework, due for submission six weeks after the end of the module. Where the module includes skills components there may also be practical assessments.
Feedback will be given on your assessments to guide your development.

Feedback

The quality of our programmes and modules is important to us, so we will also ask you to engage in feedback, staff-student liaison and the life of the school where appropriate.
