Construction Management and the Environment - CME students looking up at construction site

Get experience in a construction company, project management consultant or government institution in the UK or abroad and increase your future employability.

Between the second and final year of your course, you can choose to undertake an optional year long work placement. You will experience first-hand a professional working environment, understand the internal working practices of a company in the construction sector, advance your practical knowledge of the delivery of construction projects, as well as experience the managerial aspects involved in the production of buildings.

You will receive advice and guidance to arrange your placement, including preparing for the selection and interview process. A tutor from the university will support you on your placement and ensure you are receiving a valuable learning opportunity.

Our links with industry will help you find a suitable placement that will enhance your studies and may lead to future employment after you graduate.

Many of our students return to the university for the final year of their studies with a job offer for after they graduate and sometimes financial sponsorship for their tuition fees.
