welcome international students onto our honours degree programme, and have a
history of success with students from all over the world, studying on our
accredited and non-accredited pathways. See what some of our international
students are doing with their degree.
We offer an integrated vocational degree with strong
links to the maritime industry in the UK and internationally, including partnerships
with Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC), Middle Eastern Naval and Coastguard
institutions and overseas universities, such as the Piri Reis Maritime University
International students can follow an accredited
pathway, gaining internationally recognised (STCW) professional Officer of the
Watch (OOW) navigating officer qualification.
Whilst sponsorship opportunities are usually restricted to British or EU nationals with UK residency, non-EU students can organise sea time directly with their own national shipping companies.
Having, or progressing to a seagoing career need not be a requirement to study here, nor do you need to be sponsored. Why not join us and study BSc(Hons) Navigation and Maritime Science with the aim of entering one of the shore based support industries with an honours degree from a UK university.
We also welcome experienced ships officers and HND/FdSc graduates (with appropriate academic qualifications) looking to develop their careers further, with a direct entry into our final year. This would not require sponsorship and allows you to achieve a BSc(Honours) degree in one year.
If English isn’t your first language, Plymouth University's English Language Centre can help you fulfil your potential by developing English language and study skills while you study.
There may also be the opportunity for financial assistance while you study, with a scholarship from Plymouth University.
