The new Medical Law and Ethics project is an inter-disciplinary project with the Peninsula School of Medicine. Students from the law department work with medical, dentistry and nursing and midwifery students looking at issues such as confidentiality, consent to treatment, medical negligence, organ donation, reproduction and medical research.
Inter-disciplinary learning enables students to develop understanding and broaden their knowledge beyond their own discipline. The aim of the project is for the medical students to consider legal issues from a doctor's perspective, whilst the law students consider the legal perspective and look to understand problems and situations from a clinical standpoint.
