"I am currently working for the Submarine Business Unit of Babcock Marine and Technology, based in Plymouth. Despite having only graduated in 2012, I have already been involved in various projects throughout the company from project management roles in large dock reconstruction to strategic business planning and improvements.
For me, the thing I have found most useful is the breadth of transferable skills that I learnt at University of Plymouth. I work with graduate engineers on a daily basis from all over the country and whilst they all have good technical understanding of their specialisms, it’s the graduates from Plymouth that handle the tasks outside of their technical base the best.
I am greatly enjoying my work and am currently involved heavily with the nuclear side of our business. Having such varied experiences and a good degree behind me has certainly made my options for the future much better. Chartership is an obvious objective for all graduates, however finding the right company to give you the best experiences in getting there is even more important."
