Education - exchange modules

Plymouth Institute of Education works with a range of partners to offer high-quality research, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. 

We recognise that developing close links with students and colleagues from other countries and cultures is an essential part of supporting intercultural understanding and of underpinning the development of a shared understanding of the benefits of education to the individual and the societies in which we live. 

We offer both undergraduate and postgraduate exchange opportunities linked to the following courses:

Undergraduate: BEd (Hons) Primary, BA (Hons) Education Studies and BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies

Postgraduate taught: We offer a range of PGCE programmes

Included below is a list of all modules available for exchange students studying education at the University of Plymouth.

BA (Hons) Educations Studies

All modules are 20 credits  

First year, Semester 1:

  • EDST404: An introduction to perspectives on disability and inclusive education  

Semester 2:

  • EDST405: Introduction to global education

Second year, Semester 1:

  • EDST514: Alternatives in education

Semester 2:

  • EDST511: Outdoor and experiential learning

Third year, Semester 1:

  • EDST610: Gender and difference
  • EDST604: Global education: teaching and learning for an interconnected world

Semester 2:

  • EDST609: Wellbeing and education
  • EDST616: Sustainability and environmental education

BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies

All modules are 20 credits  

First-year modules, semester 1:

  • EEC413: Children in society
  • EEC411: An introduction to early childhood studies (immersive)
  • EEC432: Multi-professional perspectives

Semester 2:

  • EEC415: Politics for equality
  • EEC414: Understanding development; biology and psychology

Second-year modules, semester 1:

  • EEC524: Perspectives on child development
  • EEC526: Work-based learning.

Semester 2:

  • EEC527 - Developing communication in the early years
  • EEC501 - Introduction to research in early childhood studies.

PGCE modules

Please note that these modules come as a bespoke package together totalling 50 credits.

The three EPGP modules will run from Monday, 23 September until Friday, 13 December 2019

  • EPGP604SC: The broader curriculum in Key Stages 1 and 2 (0 credits)
