Plymouth Enterprise Week 2016

A new generation of entrepreneurs is set to be inspired at a series of events across Plymouth next week.

Plymouth Enterprise Week, run by the City of Plymouth and the University of Plymouth, takes place from 14–20 November and aims to celebrate enterprise, sustainability and new ideas in the city and beyond.

Events include a ‘pitch perfect’ workshop on how to sell a new business; networking afternoons to meet key local businesspeople; and ‘Soup’ – a live Crowdfunding event where entrepreneurs pitch their business to an audience, who then pick the winner of a cash prize.

The University’s Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre, in Truro, Cornwall, is also holding a MediDigi hack event, designed to connect digital entrepreneurs and developers with the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust's medical and wellbeing teams to explore ideas and identify opportunities for innovation.

The packed programme contributes to what is now known as Global Entrepreneurship Week, which takes place every November and plays a critical role worldwide in encouraging young entrepreneurs to consider starting up their own business and explore their potential as innovators.

Dr Marta Hawkins, Director of the Futures Entrepreneurship Centre at the University of Plymouth, said:

“The University and its partners have once again put together an exciting programme of events and activities to suit a range of audiences, supporting the overarching ambition to build one global, entrepreneurial ecosystem. It’s something we encourage our students to get involved with every year, as it is a really good chance to learn and develop the skills needed to excel in business and in life – self-starting, new ideas and sustainability."
