There will be a particular weighting towards your own specialism, but you’ll also learn how to communicate general scientific principles across all three science subjects, for example that cause follows effect and that scientific theories best fit current scientific data. You’ll gain experience in developing teaching methods, including practical activities for investigating and understanding scientific principles, and conveying information in an imaginative way. We’ll also prepare you to make use of the latest technology in your teaching.
Learn to communicate knowledge of, and a passion for, the natural world. You’ll focus on the intricacies of the cellular processes of plants and animals, evolution by natural selection, how species come into being, how genetic information is inherited, and the interdependence of living things. You’ll also be confident to explore wider issues such as the value of biodiversity and conservation.
Spark an interest in what things are made of. You’ll look at the fundamental principle that all material in the Universe is made of tiny particles, that a limitless array of chemicals are comprised of little more than one hundred elements and that those elements, and the reactions that form or break compounds, can be understood and organised by the pattern of protons, neutrons and electrons within the atom.
Excite curiosity about how the world works, from subatomic particles to the edge of the observable Universe. You’ll learn to communicate the key principles of concepts such as energy and forces and how these affect our daily lives.
