Dr Alex Cahill

Lecturer in Theatre and Performance

School of Humanities and Performing Arts (Faculty of Arts and Humanities)


Dr Alex Cahill is the programme lead for the BA Directing and BA Drama and Theatre Practice degrees at Plymouth Conservatoire, University of Plymouth. Cahill trained in Boalian techniques while also working as a professional theatre director. Alex works with numerous community groups both in the USA and the UK to raise awareness on the sustainable development goals, and often collaborates with Dr Paul Warwick (Centre for Sustainable Futures Lead) on the research aspect of projects. Alex has worked as a director in theatre for 14 years.

Research interests

Alex research interests focus on the wellbeing of the self in training, performance and society. As such, her work strongly aligns to sustainability education and asks how theatre practitioners can better incorporate sustainability and the Sustainability Development Goals into their practice and teaching.
