I qualified as a Registered General Nurse, RGN, from the Tor & South West College of Health (Torbay Hospital) in 1994.

I worked in Child & Adolescent Health at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth from 1994 to 2006; during which time I qualified as a Registered Sick Children's Nurse (RSCN) and specialised in neuromedical & neurosurgical nursing with the ENB148 qualification. I also completed a Diploma in Professional Studies in Nursing at this time.

Whilst working as a charge nurse in the acute children's wards at Derriford Hospital, I also undertook the Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice (ENB998) course and graduated with a BSc in Health Studies from the University of Plymouth in 2006.

From 2003 to 2006 I worked half-time in the acute hospital setting and half-time as a Practice Educator with the University of Plymouth Child Health Nursing team, supporting student nurses and their supervisors in the hospital.

I took up my current full-time position with the Peninsula Medical School in 2006 as a Clinical Skills Tutor; and graduated with the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education in 2009.
