Biography

Biography

As the Dispensing Optician/Deputy Clinical Lead, I am responsible for the delivery and development of education and training and patient services from the Optometry Clinic (CEE with Plymouth University). Supervising and training optometry students and undertaking clinical activities in a comprehensive, customer focused, integrated and progressive manner.

Level 6 Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing (FBDO), City and Islington College 1997
PGCert (HE)


I qualified as Dispensing Optician in 1997 and have worked in a variety of practice settings from larger multiples to small independent practices in a variety of roles including; manager, staff trainer, supervisor for students and patient liaison. In 1999 I trained to be a distance learning tutor supporting and marking trainee Dispensing Opticians whilst they under took a distance learning programme through the Association of Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) and I continue to do this each year.

Teaching interests

As a module teacher on the dispensing modules with in the Optometry programme, I have a keen interest in ensuring the students have the theory and practical skills to enable them to dispense spectacles to any of their patients with confidence and skill.

I am particularly interested in paediactric dispensing and other specialist services for children and young adults.

I teach on the following modules:

OPT 306: Dispensing and Occupational Optometry
