Qualifications

Twelve years experience as a Careers Adviser gaining my DipCG Part 1 in 1998 and NVQ4 in Guidance in 2000. Five years post qualifying were spent in statutory education and FE institutions, working with a diverse student body, ranging from students within mainstream education, special educational needs units and pupil referral units for those excluded from school. Extensive work with unemployed 16-19 year olds.

Current Role
HE Careers and Employability Adviser currently working with students within the Faculty of Arts. Experience of working with a broad range of degree disciplines within Plymouth University, but with a particular emphasis on those within the Business School, Plymouth Law School and Nursing and Midwifery. Key responsibilties involve embedding careers education into the HE curriculum through close collaboration with academic programme leaders. Delivery methods include lecturing, interactive workshops and one-to -one careers guidance. Close collaboration with local and national employers ensures that students receive up-to-date labour market information and have a clear understanding of employer expectation, enabling them to effectively manage their transition into the graduate labour market.
 
Previous experiences include working as a  Medical Recruitment Consultant, Youth Worker and within the Retail sector.
