Biography

Biography

Heather is a Lecturer in Education at the University of Plymouth. She has worked in Higher Education for over 10 years. She specialises in equality and social justice, and has particular interests in critical theory, critical pedagogy and critical race theory. Heather is a local artist and has a background in Community Work. She has worked with arts for social justice programmes, drawing together interests in creativity and the arts as a language for engaging in critical thinking around troublesome issues. Her doctoral thesis, 'The Impact of Arts Education Programmes on Anti-Racist School Practice in the South West of England', brought together two core interests of anti-racist work and the role of the arts for social transformation.
