Research interests

Peatlands. Methane recycling innaturally wet conditions and re-wetted mire systems.

Biogeochemistry. Application of  novel techniques in  chromatography andspectroscopy to paleoclimatology.

Land management. Current and futuretechnologies impact on soil degradation and repair through reduced tillage, mobgrazing and novel nutrient sourcing.

Carbon sequestration. Soils and peat and the humanimpacts of agriculture on the storage of atmospheric carbon.

Bacterial methane exchange. How wecan recover natural processes and use bioengineering on a global scale toreduce emissions.
