Qualifications
My background is in professional practice. Prior to joining the University of Plymouth I worked in design consultancy in London for 15 years. Most of my experience was gained at Tangerine, a successful international product design agency, where I was a Creative Director leading projects in Europe, Asia and the USA.My clients included: Nikon, Sky Broadcasting, Toyota, Unilever, Wedgwood and many others. My work has won international design awards in Europe and the USA and has been published in many books on Product Design.
Roles on external bodies
From 2009 - 2010 I was a member of the advisory board of Dott Cornwall.Dott (Designs of the Time) was developed by the UK Design Council to bring together local communities with world class designers to demonstrate how great design can make a positive difference to lives and create a more sustainable, inclusive society. The Design Council, Cornwall Council, University College Falmouth and the Technology Strategy Board worked in partnership to deliver the Dott programme throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly during 2010.
From 2000 - 2008 I was a steering committee member of i~design, a series of collaborative research projects funded by EPSRC to develop thinking and practice in the field of inclusive design. Research partners in these projects included the University of Cambridge, the Royal College of Art and the Design Council.

Teaching interests
The 3D Design programme at Plymouth has won Green Gown Awards for the way Sustainability thinking is embedded. My teaching interests include sustainable approaches to the field of Product Design from the perspectives of Ecology, Economy and Society.
