Before coming to work at the University of Plymouth in 2004, Ricky spent one year working freelance in Gothenburg, Sweden. Prior to that she was teaching English for Academic Purposes and Study Skills at London Metropolitan University for four years, and training English teachers at Waltham Forest College, where she worked for 14 years as a teacher trainer, EFL teacher and modern languages teacher.
Apart from working in the UK and Sweden, Ricky has spent one year in Guangzhou, southern China, where she co-ordinated development in English language testing on a British Council funded project, and six years in Spain, where she was a teacher and Director of Studies.
