Biography

Biography

I'm a writer and artist, working in the fields of visual poetry and creative nonfiction. I gained my PhD in visual and diagram poetry. Related research interests include artificial intelligence and digital humanities in poetry; using poetry comics for therapeutic ends; exploring community trauma and personal histories via visual and text work. My poetry comics have been published recently in Heavy Feather Review (issue 12), 3AM magazine (November 2022) and CWP Journal (Fall 2022 issue).

I was a freelance magazine writer for ten years, working for UK consumer magazines as well as The Guardian, focusing on film and media. I had two books about filmmaking published in the US for Routledge imprint Focal Press, both of which were translated into Spanish. My art work has been exhibited in the UK, Italy and New York and I am an artist member of Blue Door Art Center, Yonkers, New York. I am also active in poetry groups and am a member of ArtSpeak poetry group, New York.

Aside from teaching and research I also work with young people facing exclusion from society due to criminality or addiction.
