Research Support Assistant

School of Biological and Marine Sciences (Faculty of Science and Engineering)

Role

Currently working in a Research Support Assistant role for the School of Biological & Marine Sciences within the Faculty of Science & Engineering.  The key projects that I am supporting are UAE Ocean and the Dead Sea projects within the Plymouth Ocean Forecasting Centre. I am responsible for all  aspects of supporting existing projects and looking to support the development of new collaborations and bids.

Qualifications

My current role is to support multiple project based research collaborations in the smooth running of the Dead Sea Project and UAE Ocean.  I have two roles being Project Support Officer and Research Support Assistant both have key responsibilities in assisting the project lead and contributing directly to the delivery of project objectives.

I am a full member of the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (MIKE) and have an avid interest in all aspects of economic growth and productivity in the workforce.  My early career was around workbased learning as a vocational assessor, mentor and verifier.

My previous role was to lead and oversee the management of the University of Plymouth’s Enterprise Solutions service, the main entry point for business enquiries through a dedicated Freephone number and email response.

I led a team of five over 9 years ranging from the management of inbound enquiries, engage with new client relationships and expand our portfolio of services taken up with our existing business customers.  The role included managing and facilitating representation at business events, conducting company visits to undertaking training needs and organisational needs analysis to better understand the customers’ requirements, signpost internally to our experts and then monitor and track progress.

I was the driving force for the design and maintenance of the Enterprise Solutions suite of webpages and included video clips to better explain complex programmes such as Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP).

I led and devised pro-active marketing campaigns to promote the business services of the university and work with stakeholders, networks and partner organisations (network relationship management) to foster collaborative and reciprocal referrals.

In addition I am a qualified mentor and business coach with the IOEE.  I have a solid network of connections within the University and in the geographical region and ran my own business for three years successfully.
