Responsible for all operational aspects of data compliance within the Faculty, and for contributing to policy formulation at both faculty and institutional level. Responsible for managing the delivery and continuous development of a Faculty placements service in line with the needs of this area. External data returns and financial reporting internally and externally. Management and tasking for up to 13 staff.
Key projects to date include researching,consulting and gaining funding to implement an IT system to manage theprofessional placements for ITT and EYITT students. Creating and implementing atravel allowance scheme used by 1,000 students each year and accounting for £275,700 budget per annum.

Placement Manager (Engineering), Queen'sUniversity, Belfast

Manage, market, coordinate and assess 12 monthindustrial placements for approx. 500 Engineering students, engaging withlocal, national and international companies. Module Leader for careers and employability topics delivering taught sessions to large classes of up to 200 students to motivate and develop their skills forsuccess in gaining employment. This includes informing students of the range ofcurrent recruitment practices; assessment centres, interviews, psychometrictesting and applications. Industry speakers and subject experts are recruitedto contribute to these workshops.
Instigated and coordinated the inception of anIndustrial Advisory Forum whose purpose it is to facilitate an exchange ofideas and discussion between relevant industry, policy makers, students and theSchool.
Published work – within thisworking context I co-authored the paper (nnnn) which was published in National Careers Journal(October 2015)
Additionally I was invited to co-author the chapter ‘workexperience’ in Skills for Engineering and Built Environment Students

Invited by Pearson Education Ltd ( www.pearson ed.co.uk ) to review employability and graduate labour marketteaching resources for the web resource 'MyEmployability Lab'.
ExecutiveCommittee ~ Membership Coordinator for ASETthe national professional body for placement learning ( www.asetonline.org ). Key achievements include increasing the membership by30% in 2013, instigating an employer’s sub group, utilising LinkedIn forums todisseminate good practice, revising the membership policy to meet the needs ofa diverse and growing membership of 1300 individuals across 105 institutions.

Initiatedan Employer Advisory Group enabling the effective dissemination of information,listening and reacting quickly to the needs of our recruiters. Thusestablishing and maintaining purposeful networks with business.
Appreciationof regulations and quality systems both internal and external including therelevant employment laws and recruitment standards. Member of other remoteteams including the university's Business Development Committee oftenshort-listing and recruiting staff for their team.
Sept2009 awarded the Vice Chancellor’s inaugural annual staff award in recognitionof ability to think and perform innovatively in the area of employer engagementand student employability and for championing this cause and managing thechanges throughout the institution.

Instigatedand led a working party to design a university-wide IT management system tomonitor and manage student work-based learning records. Used initiative and process-orientatedapproach to find common themes in a mass of superficially conflictinginformation further using my influence and inspiring the community to feel asense of ownership for the system.
Theresulting system specification gained interest on the national scene which ledto the editing of the national publication (Managing Placements with IT andOnline, 2007) on behalf of ASET. Translated highly detailed technical information into lay person’s termsfor a diverse audience.
