Biography

Biography

My main role is the maintenance of the Marine Navigation Suite in the Marine building. I am responsible for all the ship simulators and the Full Mission Bridge. As an integral part of the Navigation and Maritime Science team, my role is the senior technician and senior technical advisor. I am responsible for all aspects of the running and maintenance of the navigation simulators; the ships bridge workstations and the electronic chart room. I am a point of contact for visitors and students and support the presentation, delivery and development of the facility for teaching, research and commercial activities, to the highest standards. I maintain all of our systems and strive for 100% uptime.
Furthermore, I also upgrade and extend current systems for future needs which include updating the software, both system and Navigation annually. As part of my role, I manage the technical support offered by our software and hardware suppliers and negotiate our service contracts with them. I also look towards the future and try to keep up to date with the latest technology in IT and Simulation. I also assist students with their projects and offer technical advice if needed.
