10.00 – 12.00 Induction Session 1 – Plymouth Lecture Theatre, Portland Square Building

Introduction and welcome to the
School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics. This session is an important
one as it is your first formal contact with the staff who are most involved
with your degree programme, and with your fellow students.
The session will be led by the
Stage Tutor, who will give an overview of the week and the courses and it will include
some activities to help you get to know each other and prepare for your course.

Any time between 09.00 – 16.00 University Card Collection - Room 015, Ground Floor, Smeaton Building
You can collect your University card from Room 015, Ground Floor, Smeaton Building during the times given above. Your card is used for entry to the Library, some room entry, handing in coursework etc.
You must
complete online enrolment and upload a photo prior to attending this session.
You will need to bring identification with you to this session. The
preferred form of identification is a valid current passport. Please refer to
our University Card

for further details.
NB: If you already have a card i.e. because you were previously a student on
another course or at a Partner College, you do not need to attend this session.
14.00 – 17.00 Induction Session 2 – Jill Craigie Lecture Theatre, ground floor, Roland Levinsky Building
Dr
Yinghui Wei and Stage 1 lecturers.
At this session you will meet your Personal Tutor. There will also be a tour of
the staff offices in Kirkby Place and of the Learning Resources on Campus.
Later you will divide into tutor groups to meet with your tutor in a separate
room. Your tutor will introduce you to, and will discuss with you, the Famous
Mathematicians activity. This will take place in various rooms.

12.30 – 12.45 Introduction to Student Wellbeing Services – Devonport Lecture Theatre, Portland Square Building
Student Services will outline the support available to all students and where you need to go to access this support. The session will include information about:
- Disability Services
- Student Wellbeing Services (Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing)
- Chaplaincy
- Learning Development incl SUM UP
- Care Leavers
- Peer Assisted Learning (PALS)
12.45 – 13.00 Introduction to the Students’ Union – Devonport Lecture Theatre, Portland Square Building
A
representative of the Students’ Union will outline all the extra-curricular
activities you can enjoy, including; sports clubs and societies, volunteering,
and how the Union is the hub of social life whilst studying. They provide your
student support and representation.
19.00 – 21.30 Wednesday Welcome Party - Graduation Marquee, Plymouth Hoe
The
Welcome Party is your opportunity to meet informally with other students new to
The Faculty of Science and Engineering as well as some current students and
your academic staff.
Additionally, the evening includes a
welcome drink, entertainment and the chance to win a £100 Amazon voucher.
