EU Settlement Scheme
The EU Settlement Scheme was rolled out to the public on the 21 January 2019 and is open to most students.
You can apply for settled or pre-settled status under the scheme. Information about the scheme including details of who can apply can be found on the Home Office website.
You'll be eligible to apply if you are either:

a non-EU citizen who has a residence card or permanent residence card issued on the basis of an application you made on or after 6 April 2015.
You will need to provide evidence of your residence in the UK if you apply now. If you have a National Insurance number your work records will be accessed as part of the application. Other types of acceptable evidence.
The EU Settlement Scheme was opened to all including EEA and Swiss nationals from the 30 March 2019.
UKCISA have provided comprehensive guidance on the scheme including information about whether the UK leaves the EU with a deal or if no deal is reached. Brexit - EU Settlement Scheme
Do I need to submit an application now?
You do not need to submit an application at present under the pilot testing phase, but you can do so if you wish. We want you to know the options available so you can make a decision based on your personal circumstances.
If you are planning to apply using the Settlement Scheme, the best advice you can receive now is to start preparing your evidence of eligibility as outlined in Appendix A of the following document: EU Settlement Scheme.
