What happens in an appointment?

A mental health appointment is a face to face meeting with one of the University's Mental Health Advisors, Issy, Atarah or Ayuko.

The aim is to connect with those of you who have a previous or recent mental health diagnosis or have started to experience symptoms that are affecting your ability to engage in university life.

The appointments are approximately 1 hour long and an opportunity for us to gain an understanding of how things are for you and what support (if any) you are currently receiving. We carry out a risk assessment to help us determine what help will be most appropriate.

Together we may create a support plan, often including self-help strategies and resources and where appropriate, we will signpost or connect you with external agencies.

We know it can be daunting approaching someone for support, but we are a friendly team and the appointments are an opportunity for an open, honest, and non-judgemental discussion.
