The University of Plymouth Students’ Union, Student, Staff Teaching and Representation (SSTAR) Awards are now running into their 8th consecutive year where, since 2011, they have grown in size, awards and nominations, highlighting the amazing work that students and staff both do in order to ensure that students are getting the most from their university experience.
The nominations for each of these awards have come from each of the five faculties, both on and off campus, as well as our partner institutions. Both students and staff have the opportunity to nominate individuals for any of the 16 categories and are all submitted online. Student representatives can nominate themselves to sit on the selection panels for the winners of each award, with an oversight from the democratically elected VP Education, allowing the event to be student-led throughout, some of these awards will have faculty winners and an overall winner, and the others will have a runner up and an overall winner. As part of the nominations process, we asked nominators to detail reasons why their nominee deserved this particular award. The student panels will sit and decide on the winners of the awards.
The VP Education hosts the night, with a range of students and staff presenting awards during the course of the evening. The evening is an event to celebrate all of those who have been shortlisted, our runners up and winners and the achievements and good practise of both our students and staff right across the University.
