The School of Nursing and Midwifery are running a pilot to introduce electronic student assessment eOAR. The pilot will run during the 2017–2018 academic year. The aim is to introduce this system to all nursing and midwifery students for the start of the 2018–2019 academic year, should this pilot be successful.
This pilot is to test the use, functionality and application of the eOAR system within a variety of placement settings. The aim of the system is to enable ease of access to a student’s ongoing progress for mentors, students and tutors. The aim is also speed up the completion and assessment process and transfer students’ results to the student record system.
Students and mentors will use eOAR alongside using the current OARs document, which will need to be completed and submitted as normal.
Students are however allowed to print information from the eOAR system (mentor to sign) and staple this into your OAR document. Personal tutors can check a student’s progress at any point of their placement.
The eOAR system is still in development, so this pilot will enable us to identify possible areas for improvement. It is anticipated that there may be the requirement for minor adjustments to be made before the eOAR system is established.
