Dinah Nichols is currently a Trustee of the Land Trust, where she Chairs the Remuneration and HR Committee. She is also a Trustee of the South West Lakes Trust and an Independent Member of the National Trust Governance Community.
Until recently Dinah was Chair of Keep Britain Tidy. She is a former Crown Estate Commissioner; a non-executive Director of Pennon Group plc (South West Water and Viridor Waste); and a non-executive Director of Aberdeen Smaller Companies High Income Trust (a Scotland-based Investment Trust). Until 2011 she was Chair of the National Forest Company, whose remit is to regenerate a 200 square mile area in the heart of England through multi-purpose forestry. Her previous career in government included senior posts in transport, regeneration, housing and property; as head of Property Holdings she was responsible for managing the government’s office estate of 72 million square feet and from 1996-2002 she was Director-General Environment with responsibility for international, EU and domestic policy on sustainable development, climate change, waste and environmental quality. She has extensive experience in making board and senior executive appointments in the public, private and not for profit sectors.
Dinah has also been Chair of Groundwork North London, a board member of Toynbee Housing Association, a founder Director of the Carbon Trust and the Travel Foundation and a member of the Policy Advisory Committee of the Campaign to Protect Rural England.
She is an Honorary Fellow of Royal Holloway and Bedford New College; a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators; a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians and is an active member of Goldsmiths Choral Union, the Association of British Members of the Swiss Alpine Club, the Green Alliance and the Aldersgate Group.
Dinah was appointed to the Board in April 2017.
