What types of campus tours are available?

Escorted: these tours are delivered by a current student. They will escort you across the campus, answering any questions and advising about the various services and amenities that the University offers. These tours operate on a fortnightly basis on a Wednesday. In order to participate in this tour, you will need to submit an electronic booking form.

Self-guide: these tours are wholly independent. You can collect or download a self-guide booklet, and can embark upon the tour without an escort. You're welcome to visit the campus at any time during the working week, which is Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. This tour does not require a booking form.

What is included in a campus tour?

Guided campus tours offer you a chance to explore the University campus with a current student. You will get the opportunity to view the campus buildings and learn about the facilities inside each of them. You will be guided throughout and receive first-hand information and experiences from one of our student ambassadors. The information will be read from a campus tour script that the Student Ambassador will have to ensure you get the most up to date and interesting information.

Self-guide: Upon arrival you will receive a printed copy of our campus tour booklet with clear instructions of the route to take around the campus, enabling you to explore the University of Plymouth at your own leisure.

Who will be delivering the escorted tour?

A current student will deliver the tour for you. You will have the opportunity to ask as many questions as you like about life as a University of Plymouth student during your tour.

When do they operate?

Escorted: fortnightly basis on a Wednesday at 12pm

Self-guide:  Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

How do I book a place?

You're only required to book a place on the escorted tour, please see the booking tab for the form.

What if I can’t make the dates provided?

We will endeavour to arrange a tour at a time and date suitable to you but we cannot guarantee it.

What if I am late for the escorted tour?

Although we understand that unforeseen circumstances can hinder your arrival, we cannot delay the tour any longer than 15 minutes. If you are later than this, we will provide you with a self-guide booklet.

What if I get lost on the day?

Can I see an academic and/or department during my visit?

Neither the escorted or self-guide tours include an academic and/or departmental visit. If you would like to arrange this, please email detailing which subject, date and time you would prefer. Please note, we cannot guarantee this although we will endeavour to arrange something for you.

Is there financial support available for travel expenses?

Unfortunately there is no financial support available for campus tours.

How many guests can I bring with me?

You're welcome to bring as many guests as you wish. We appreciate that other people’s advice will be important to you when making a decision about which university to apply for.

Can I bring children?

Of course! We have a diverse student cohort at the University, including many parents. We welcome children onto the campus but ask for parents to ensure their safety by being vigilant.
