Our green seas bring life to our oceans. Sunlight powers the growth of phytoplankton and kelp forests are some of the most productive ecosystems on Earth. We are increasingly interested in harnessing algae for food and fuel, and in planning for changes due to climate change.

The British Phycological Society is a charity devoted to the study of algae. These provide humanity with half the oxygen we need. Founded in 1952, membership is freely open to everybody. We welcome industrial sponsors to showcase their applied algal technology.
