Trevor Bell worked within the burgeoning modern art community in St Ives but he also spent a considerable part of his career in America.

Art historian and senior lecturer at the University of Plymouth, Jody Patterson, will explore the often overlooked transatlantic connections between the West County and the US in the development of large-scale abstract painting during the post-war era.

Trans-Form at Peninsula Arts

Trans-Form explores the work of British modernist artist, Trevor Bell, which across three decades of his career penetrated and captured the physical and the natural, in a profoundly simplistic way.

Bell's own mantra to never look backwards fits neatly into this season's theme of 'transformations' and viewing his work is arguably a trans-formative experience in itself.
