The godfather of Japanese animation, Hayao Miyazaki’s (Spirited Away, Ponyo) The Wind Rises may be the great filmmaker’s swansong and is perhaps his most personal film yet.

The story follows a bright young aircraft engineer through the early 20th century to the onset of WW2, as he finds love and becomes one of the world’s most innovative aircraft designers. The character is loosely based on Jiro Horikoshi, designer of the WW2 Zero fighter.

“A celebration of craft, graft and inspiration, The Wind Rises is a final masterpiece from an industry legend”
