This event is for Plymouth University staff.
Facilitated by Jane Collings.
Light, Cox and Calkins (2009) explain that a bias towards traditional exam formats places too much emphasis on memory and factual knowledge, creates an over-reliance on speed of writing and thinking and often presents limited opportunity for constructive feedback. However examinations come in a range of different formats and if used creatively can be a useful element of a wider inclusive assessment strategy.
This session will explore the rationale for inclusive exams, identify the different types of exams, design effective exam questions, and consider factors that facilitate inclusive examinations.
