A ResearchEd seminar by Dr Suanne Gibson, Plymouth Institute of Education. This seminar will present on Suanne's 2013-2014 travels – the actual and the metaphorical.

Using YouTube footage, blog extracts and drawing on a series of journey invoked questions and research citations, the session will tell a story about ‘diversity’.

‘Diversity’ as a concept will be problematised, specifically in relation to higher education policy discourse. We will engage with the voices of university students from UK, USA, New Zealand and Cyprus who have challenging relationships with their ‘diversity’ label and we will consider their insights in relation to contemporary research and policy in this field. Suanne hopes the session will encourage us to share our own experiences and journeys with ‘diversity’ and allow for related questions to be explored.

This seminar is targeted at Plymouth University staff (particularly those in Education and those doing pedagogic research) but anyone interested may attend, subject to booking. Email Claire Butcher to book your place at this event.
