Cyber security is becoming a serious issue of all sectors and with the increasing use of information technology and automation both onshore and at sea the maritime sector is a potential target.
Hugh Boyes, the IET’s cyber security lead, will talk about some incidents that have already occurred and the development of a code of practice addressing cyber security for ports, which was sponsored by the UK Department for Transport (DfT).
He will explain how good engineering practice can reduce the cyber security risks and the skills we need to be developing in our next generation of engineers.
Start time: 7pm.
Refreshments will be available before the start of the lecture from 6.30pm in
either Room 002 or 003, Babbage Building.
