Save event

Wildlife experts, enthusiasts and the public in South West England and beyond are invited to join the Marine Biological Association's 24-hour race to record as many species as possible in and around Plymouth Hoe.

As well as collecting valuable species information, a bioblitz aims to engage the local community to explore nature and create awareness about their local wildlife. The event is also an excellent chance to meet and work alongside like-minded wildlife enthusiasts.

Base camp for the event is the Citadel Laboratory. The event will kick off at 10:30 on Friday. Local schools and home school groups will be joining us for workshops on Friday.

A lichen and plants walk followed by microscope ID work will be run by Alison Smith from Plymouth University's School of Biological Sciences on Saturday.

There will also be timetabled activities and interactive stands at the base camp until Saturday at 15:00.

Everyone is welcome, so come along and find out more about Plymouth’s wildlife. A total of 1,109 species were recorded last year, so let's see if we can find more!

Contact the MBA for further information (email: 01752 633336).

The event is supported by University of Plymouth Marine Institute, Collard Construction and Wright and Owen Electrical Services.
