This free event is a small symposium organised by the University of Basel and hosted by the School of Psychology, University of Plymouth. 

It is open to all (no registration required) but researchers in psychology, healthcare and medicine will find it particularly relevant. The topic of discussion will be open-label placebos. 

  • Are placebos effective?
  • What are open-label placebos?
  • How do they differ from deceptive placebos? 
  • Can you benefit from placebos?
  • Can they be used in psychological interventions? 

These and other research topics, including chronic pain, experimental anxiety and clinical research will be discussed in talks and posters.

10:00-10:45 - Poster session and coffee

11:00-12:00 - Advantages and Challenges of a Network Meta-Analysis (Dr Helen Koechlim, University of Basel, and Dr Cosima Locher, University of Plymouth and University of Basel)

12:00-12:30 - Closing discussion

12:30 - Lunch at Reservoir Cafe for everyone who would like to join us
