Plymouth Chamber of Commerce together with GAIN (the Growth Acceleration and Investment Network) and the Peninsula City Deal Growth Hub invites businesses to the launch event of Plymouth Enterprise Week 2014.  

This free panel debate event will launch Enterprise Week in Plymouth and focus on:

  • celebrating business success and growth in Plymouth over the past year
  • increasing productivity and growth in the South West
  • helping businesses to access the wide range of expert advice, facilities and support available through the Peninsula City Deal Growth Hub
  • showing how GAIN is working to drive business growth through partnership
  • highlighting the opportunities and challenges faced by businesses in the South West
  • showcasing the growth in social enterprise and its impact on the local economy and its communities.

Speakers and panellists

  • Tudor Evans (speaker): Plymouth City Council Leader
  • Professor Julian Beer (panellist): Pro Vice-Chancellor (Regional Enterprise), Plymouth University
  • Gareth Hart (panellist): Chair of the Social Enterprise Network and Co-founder of Iridescent Ideas CIC
  • Lesley Shorrocks (panellist): Director of Plymouth Chamber and Chair of the Plymouth Federation of Small Businesses


  • 8.30am: Registration, breakfast and informal networking 
  • 9am: Bill Martin, Editor Western Morning News and compere for the event will welcome
  • 9.05am: Opening speech from Tudor Evans, Leader of Plymouth City Council
  • 9.10am: Adrian Vinken, Chief Executive, Theatre Royal Plymouth
  • 9.20am: Introduction to our three panellists, Professor Julian Beer, Gareth Hart and Lesley Shorrocks
  • 9.30am: Discussion and debate
  • 10.20am: Summary and event close
