Today, individuals across the nations will be forced, by fear of life threatening events, to make a choice. “Do I stay and suffer worsening circumstances that could be fatal, or do I find a way of escape that will offer a place of safety?”

The UK government recognises the right of those who genuinely need sanctuary, granting them leave to remain as refugees.

Many such refugees have thus settled and become respectful citizens contributing equally into the communities where they live. All over the nation during the annual Refugee Week, celebratory events will take place to appreciate the positive benefits of their investment into our society and the achievements we make in partnership for a better future.

Our city of Plymouth is richer in its diversity, skills and culture because we welcome refugees to integrate and share their lives, artistic and traditional expressions with respect of the freedom we all enjoy.

A welcome is offered to everyone to come and join in these events that are free to all, whether outdoor events or those facilitated during the week at various venues.
