21 November 2018: "Why don't my patients follow my advice and do what's best for them?”
This is a Rehabilitation Research Group and School of Health Professions Joint Research Meeting. The presenter is Professor Sara Demain, Head of the School of of Health Professions and Professor of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
Most treatments require engaged patients. So why don’t more patients engage with treatments and follow professional advice - who is to ‘blame’ and what can be done to enhance engagement and promote self-management? Sara will be presenting an overview of the research she has undertaken all of which seeks to address these questions. This research has focused mostly on neurological conditions but many of the lessons learnt are applicable across a range of long-term conditions and treatments.
