A talk will be held at the University as part of Holocaust Memorial Day. It will be given by Solly Irving, a Jewish Holocaust survivor from London.
About Solly Irving (source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/community_life/features/holocaust.shtml, accessed 13.01.16)
Solly travels around the Devon's schools telling children about his experiences. His powerful testimony recalls the horror of World War II and his own journey to safety. Solly was separated from his family at the age of nine and spent much of the war years in labour camps and transit camps.
The heart of Solly's message is remembrance, and aimed in particular at school children. "[I want] to make them think - that's all I want - and to remember, to make them think even in later life."
Solly continued: "I hope that by giving my talks I can start to build a better world."
And Solly recognises the importance of Holocaust Memorial Day; "It is important - for the important reason - 'who's going to be our witnesses?'
"We are the witnesses now, and we are trying to put the message over for the others after us to be witnesses."
The free talk starts at 7pm and everyone is welcome to attend.
