This shared learning event, organised by Livewell Southwest has speakers from First Steps Nutrition, Livewell Southwest, Plymouth City Council and the University of Plymouth. The event is open to parents, carers and healthcare professionals.
Special guest speaker: Dr Helen Crawley, First Steps Nutrition Trust
Helen is a registered public health nutritionist and dietitian with over 35 years' experience in human nutrition, research, policy development and teaching. Helen is currently director of the public health nutrition charity First Steps Nutrition Trust which provides expert, evidence-based resources on nutrition from pre-conception to five years. First Steps works with Unicef UK Baby Friendly and other partners to ensure independent infant feeding information is available to health professionals, lobbies to protect food composition, standards and safety for food for young children and with the UK Food Poverty Alliance members to protect and promote Healthy Start.
Speaker: Dr Alyson Norman, University of Plymouth
Alyson is a lecturer in health and clinical psychology at the University of Plymouth. Her primary research interest relates to the involvement of service users in healthcare choices and treatment decisions across a range of health conditions.
Speaker: Professor Gayle Letherby, University of Plymouth
Gayle is an Honorary Professor of Sociology at the University of Plymouth and a Visiting Professor at the University of Greenwich. Alongside substantive interests in reproductive and non/parental identities; gender, health and wellbeing; loss and bereavement; travel and transport mobility and working and gender and identity within institutions (including universities and prisons), she has an international reputation in research methodology.
