This free event aims to discuss Sustainable Port Management with a practitioner community and share the findings of recent research at Plymouth University.
After a brief introduction to the day by John Dinwoodie, Professor of Maritime Logistics, presentations will focus on how recent research can assist port managers. Dr Andrei Kuznetsov will introduce a practical Port Sustainability Management System and discuss its practical value to port managers. Sapna Chacko will report on recent work into the potential for sustainable water-freight logistics in South West England. Will Cooper (former KTP Associate, Fowey Harbour Commission) and Dr Lynne Butel, Associate Professor of Strategic Management will discuss funding and strategic issues.
Sue Terpilowski, Managing Director of Image Line and President of WISTA UK will present a practitioner perspective followed by an open forum to debate current concerns relating to sustainable port management and establish mechanisms for port managers and academics to work together to tackle them.
The day will be shared with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport South Western Region, the Ports Maritime and Inland Waterways forum and other port practitioners.
Doors open at 9.30am for a 10am start. Refreshments and a light buffet will be provided.
