Renowned global adventurer and photographer John Beatty is visiting Plymouth this November to give an evening fundraising talk for Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth

John is a captivating and inspirational speaker. Whether rafting down the Colorado River of the Grand Canyon, filming the volcanic eruption in Iceland, or celebrating round a campfire with primitive Kalahari Bushmen, John’s stories leave his audiences infused with energy and wonder at the beauty of our planet.

Since his outstanding audio-visual debut in 1984 with the slow dissolve choreography of “Touch the Earth. A Celebration of Wild Places”, John has been widely acclaimed as one of the most exciting and stimulating nature, travel and adventure photographers to have emerged in recent years.

John’s work is chiefly concerned with the timeless rhythms of the natural environment, its beauty and simplicity and man’s place within it. Now in his 25th year of business, he has travelled throughout the world.

Major expeditions include seven months spent in Antarctica, a winter in Spitzbergen, a 400 mile traverse of the Greenland Icecap. He has been to the Himalayas, the Pacific Islands, East Africa, the American Deserts, the Galapagos Islands and the Andes, Namibia, Alaska, the European Alps and has photographed almost all the wildland locations in Britain from the windswept tors of Cornwall to the white strands of the Outer Hebrides.

The talk will start at 7.30pm.

Cost: £12 or £5 students / concessions + booking fee (please purchase tickets via the above link).

The evening is being very kindly supported not only by John who is donating his time, but also by the University who is donating resources and the venue to host the evening.

All proceeds from the evening will be donated to DSRTP and will be used to help fit out the new team Rescue Centre purchased this summer.
