This PedRIO CIP Network/Institute of Education event is for Plymouth University staff and PhD/research students.

Keynote and workshop facilitated by Professor Penny Jane Burke, Director, Paulo Freire Institute-UK & Research in Inequalities, Policy and Education, School of Education, University of Roehampton,

This event will provide insights into inclusive teaching in higher education from an internationally-renowned expert in the field. After an introductory keynote, participants will have the opportunity in workshops to consider what ‘inclusive education’ means, locate their own thoughts and views within the context of the university  and discuss and explore how  to interpret and apply the principles of inclusivity in their practice. Penny Jane Burke is Professor of Education at Roehampton University, London, where she is co-Founder and Director of the Paulo Freire Institute-UK (PFI-UK) and Research in Inequalities, Societies & Education. She is also Global Innovation Chair of Equity and Co-Director of the Centre of Excellence in Equity in Higher Education at the University of Newcastle, Australia. 

Penny is passionately dedicated to developing methodological, theoretical and pedagogical frameworks that support critical understanding and practice of equity and social justice in higher education and has published extensively in the field of equity in higher education.
