Come and support our students as they take on Marjons in the annual Varsity games!

Varsity is the annual sports challenge event of the year where student teams from the University of St Mark & St John and Plymouth University compete for the Varsity trophy.

Varsity originally started as a challenge between the two institutions' men's rugby teams. Its primary aim was to raise money for charity but additionally, it helped to fuel a healthy sporting rivalry between the two institutions. The programme has since diversified to encompass as many sports as possible to see who is the true sporting champion in Plymouth.

In partnership with a number of city providers, and using the facilities at both institutions, Varsity gives competitors and spectators the opportunity to experience a first rate sports event.

Varsity also has a proud history of charitable fundraising. Last year over £12,000 was raised and the organising committee hope to top that in 2015 for the chosen charities this year. The University of St Mark & St John’s charity is the Callum St John Star Tribute Fund as part of the Grand Appeal, Bristol Children’s Hospital. Plymouth University have picked Cystic Fibrosis for their charity this year. University staff, students and members of the public are invited to support these events in aid of these well deserving charities.

Entry to Varsity events are free except for football or rugby matches which are ticketed events. Tickets cost £7 each (or £12 for both) and are available from either the Plymouth University SU Shop or Marjon Student Union office.

Please note that fixtures dates and times may change at late notice due to circumstances out of the organisers' control.

Visit the UPSU Varsity webpage for lots more information and details of the scores as they happen.
