Meet Emily, our Careers Advisor

As your Careers Advisor I am available to support you with making important decisions about your career. Whether you are in Stage One or a graduate you will, at some point, find you need support with securing your dream job. You will see me in your lectures and seminars as part of your academic programme, but you can also access one-to-one support and coaching, which is useful when making very personal or specific early career decisions, particularly if you are keen on a competitive job sector or you simply have no idea where to start your job search. I am a part of a much wider team, who can help with finding part-time work, placements or employability workshops. Whatever your question or concern, you will have someone to help you.

A placement year is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience in your chosen area. While you’re putting your learning into practice, you’ll pick up a whole range of employability skills.

What’s in it for me?

  • Employers are more likely to favour graduates with work experience
  • Open the door to graduate opportunities. Employers regularly choose previous placement students for their graduate schemes
  • Improve your results
  • Get a taste of your chosen career
  • Make money. You’ll earn between £13,000 and £20,000 depending on the subject and location
  • Take the chance to work abroad.
