This 20 credit module is offered at diploma and degree level and has been designed to meet the educational needs of practitioners who care for older adults with acute illness and will provide strategies in order to improve service delivery and deliver effective high quality care.
At degree level you will critically examine contemporary clinical practice and develop an evidence based underpinning knowledge, and perform skills pertinent to the needs of the older adult in acute care settings.
At diploma level you will link evidence based theory to current clinical practice to enable you to provide a contemporary service. Please note at diploma level this module is called ‘HEAB239 Principles and Practice of Acute Medical Care for Older Adults’.
A variety of educational approaches are utilised on this module including: lectures, discussions, presentations, seminars and relevant visits.
This module can be studied as a standalone module at both levels or as an optional module towards some of our BSc (Hons) Professional Development pathways at degree level - please contact the Professional Development Unit for further information.
